The museum is located in three Armenian Tenement Houses in the Rynek and consists of archaeological, ethnographic and historical departments. The historical department is devoted to the history of Zamość, the Zamoyski family and Zamość Entail.
The biggest attraction of an exhibition entitled “Zamość, the Zamoyski Family and Zamość Entail 1580-1939” is a fortress model of 17th century Zamość. The exhibition also consists of paintings, including many portraits of Entailers as well as furniture and weapons from different times. Many exhibits are connected with the history of the Zamojska Academy and its printing house.
The exhibits of an exhibition entitled “Zamość Region in Ancients Times and in the Middle Ages” include objects whose age ranges from the Middle Stone Age till the Middle Ages. There are also photographs of ruins of ancient castles, located in Zamość Region. An exhibition entitled “Folk Art in Zamość Region” presents national costumes, agricultural tools and folk art from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries.
Apart from permanent exhibitions, the museum also launches interesting temporary exhibitions.
Historical interiors, with well-preserved elements of historical stonework, frescoes and wooden ceilings constitute an additional attraction of the Zamojskie Museum.
